Web 2.0
By: Katie Byers
Growing up in an upcoming tech savvy world is something that I will be forever grateful for. Now that I have decided that I want to become a teacher, I feel that this will benefit me greatly. Becoming a teacher during the course of the web 2.0 era and learning how to use the applications is something that will be able to enhance the way we teach and the way that our students learn. Here are two web 2.0 tools that were my favorite and that I want to use in my future classroom.
TeacherTube
The first web 2.0 tool that I liked was TeacherTube. This is a website that can be accessed to help assist you and your students on learning just about any subject! The website has free access and has videos and audio clips "designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill." The website has a bunch of topics to chose from and is super easy to navigate through. There is a search bar where you can search a video in the topic you are looking for, or there is a category button that you can click on and browse for a video in your specific category. It is very likely that I use this website in my classroom in the future because it is super safe, they have people that go through and watch videos that have been flagged due to inappropriateness and they get taken down. This site is strictly for classroom use purposes so it is a site that I would feel very comfortable using and navigating through in front of my students. The website also gives you the option to create playlists that you can go in before class and create with all the videos you would like to show so that you don't have to search them during class time. Overall, this website is easy to use, very versatile, and it is very likely that I use it in my future classroom. Down below I have provided a tutorial on how to use the site, and linked a video that is an example of something you can use in the classroom.

These are two websites that I have not heard much about before this. They both seem like super helpful apps and I am excited to get to use them more. Teachertube especially seems like a website I could use a lot on my teaching career.
Great post!
Prior to your post I have never heard of TeacherTube before which seems to be a great resource for students! However, I have used StopWatch in the kindergarten classroom I volunteer in and kids love it. Thanks for sharing!
I found both of the tools you mentioned to be very helpful and something that I would use in my classroom. I've heard of the benefits of using a timer in class, but I like how the ones StopWatch are fun and doesn't seem like a clock.
Thank you for your comment! TeacherTube is an awesome platform and I'm glad you will find future use in it!

Some activities that can be used for stopwatch are things like group work, rotating groups, reading time, individual work time, etc., so that kids have an idea of how much time is left that they need to be focused and then it's a little fun element added in when the time is up! Thanks for asking!

Me as well, I love that it's not just a generic timer but something that can add fun and excitement into the classroom!
