#1 Tech Self-Assessment

Tech Self- Assessment

1. Current Use of Technology in Personal and Professional Everyday Life-
There are many ways that technology is used in peoples everyday lives, either professional or personal. I use technology for both of these categories. In my professional life, I use technology for school. I go to a university where school is only online as of right now, so using technology through a computer to communicate, do assignments, and research information is something that I do on an everyday basis. I also use technology in my personal life in many different ways. I use my computer to do many things everyday such as, watching a variety of different videos, online shopping, and researching random questions that come up during the day. I also use a cell phone, which can do many things like calling/texting, social media, games, and taking pictures to just name a few. I also use televisions on most days as well to watch many different movies and tv shows.

2. Comfort Levels of Using and Learning New Technology-
Personally I am super comfortable right now with the technology that I use often. Being born in a generation where technology was up and coming, I started using it at a very young age, so now I feel that it's almost second nature me. I also feel quite comfortable learning new technology, it may take me awhile to figure things out but I usually am persistent enough to teach myself to learn the new skills.

3. How I Feel About Technology "Misbehaving"-
Honestly, I get a bit frustrated when technology "misbehaves". I am a super hard headed person and when things don't go the way that I want, I tend to get annoyed. I usually push myself to figure things out but I do often get frustrated. I am always one to reach out for help when I need it so I often do that as well when it comes to technology that isn't working and I cant figure out.

4. What Do I Hope To Learn This Quarter?-
I am super excited about taking this course this quarter and learning about new advances and new "things to me" in the technology world. I am not sure exactly what I want to learn more about but overall I am thrilled to gain a better understanding of the up rising technology world that we live in.

Katie, I enjoyed the images you used espically the word art you created. Being part of a generation that born in the emergence of technology has definitely helped and shaped our perspective.

Katie,
I also feel comfortable with the technology I am currently using because I have used it enough to know how to work it and solve most of the problems that arise. Since we grew up with technology, we have also learned how to fix issues or find resources that can help us.

Taylor,
I totally agree, growing up in the era that we did has helped us with many skills that not only knowing how to use certain aspects of technology, but learning how to fix issues with it as well! Thank you,

Hi Katie,
I like the pink color you used for your blog, it is very eye catching and goes well with the different fonts you added in! I love it. I also get frustrated when technology is misbehaving, I also get upset when things don't go the way I am planning. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so If I can't figure something out I will sit there for hours till I do, which when it comes to a school assignment it can be time consuming especially when there is other stuff I need to get done as well. But at least the positive side to that is if I already spent that much time figuring something out I feel confident the next time I have to do it. I also like your word art and I can see that you put a lot of effort into your blog, great job.

Hi Katie! I love your computer word art!! I didn't even notice that it was the word art and just thought it was a cool sketch until I looked closer!! It is definitely crazy that all our communication and interaction for school is online right now, but i'm thankful for assignments like these that feel more like interacting than actual class work! I love that you like to research! My husband's that way, he has tons of notes on his phone for different subjects and researches and writes about them all day long. I definitely want to have more of a curious, inquisitive spirit like that!

AnnElise,
I am also a perfectionist and agree that it can be hard when it comes to school because of all of the assignments that are due and how time consuming things can get because of it. Thank you!

Hi Katie!
I also use technology for both personal and professional situations. When the technology stops working in professional situation, or when we'e not quite comfortable with it yet, it can be frustrating! I am grateful though to be born in a home and generation that technology is so integrated, that we learn how to use it at a young age. It's good that you're persistent in learning new tech, I'm more of an instant gratification kind of person, so I'm a bit impatient:) I'm excited to learn about new technologies with you!
